'It will be difficult to bat against Rashid and Mujeeb in Australia' - Stuart Law

Stuart Law, who was Afghanistan's interim head coach for the Bangladesh tour, opened up on his brief stint with the team and what the future holds for the side.

Under Stuart's coaching, Afghanistan lost the ODI series against Bangladesh but drew the following T20I series.

In his interview with Cricbuzz, the former Australia cricketer reflected upon his role and talked about how he worked around a talented group of players recently.

"I am different from every other coach they probably had, and a lot of stuff they learn works for certain people and the stuff that I know works for certain players. The information they all give, they work out what works for them, and once they find what works for them, they stick to them," Stuart said as quoted to Cricbuzz.

For the known reasons, the current situation in Afghanistan does not allow a safe environment to conduct matches in the country. Stuart asserted that the players would love to play at home when asked about the same. But the conditions in India and UAE will help them compete with the top teams.

"I think it's a fair point. I know it's challenging to play international series in Afghanistan, and it will be challenging to get other teams to go there. But, I think the boys are quite happy playing in UAE, and those conditions really suit the way they play their game.

"I think playing other subcontinental teams will be a fair contest, and boys will be happy playing other teams like England, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in UAE. I know they would love to play at home in front of their home fans, but it hasn't been possible until now. But the boys will be happy playing in India and UAE," the 53-year-old added.

Stuart further opined on the top spinners of Afghanistan, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. He asserted that Rashid and Mujeeb have gained experience playing in Australia, which can assist the side in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

"Rashid, Mujeeb like the wicket where the ball skids and pace of the surface and Australia will provide that. Australia pitches do spin, and it is not just about fast bowling; in most cases, pitches are generally flat.

Rashid and Mujeeb play in Big Bash, and they know what the pitches are all about and learn how to contain and take wickets. So it will be difficult to bat against them in Australia the way they bowl, " Stuart concluded.
