IPL 2022 | We have been waiting to play there - Khaleel excited about bowling at Wankhede

Delhi Capitals left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed is excited at the opportunity to finally play at the Wankhede stadium when his side locks horns with the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday evening.

The Capitals have played three out of their four games in Mumbai but none at Wankhede, where the conditions have assisted seamers, especially in the first innings.

Speaking ahead of the clash against RCB, Ahmed said that DC's bowling unit has been waiting to play at Wankhede and is hopeful that they will make the most of the conditions.

"The ball swings at the Wankhede Stadium and, therefore, we have been waiting to play there. We are excited, and hopefully, we can utilize the conditions, swing the ball well and take wickets,"

Delhi and Bangalore have dished out thrilling encounters in the recent past. However, the challenge will be challenging for the Rishabh Pant-led unit as the Challengers, despite their defeat to CSK in the last game, are already looking like the team to beat this season.

Ahmed expressed his excitement at the prospect of bowling to some of the batters in the world in the RCB set-up and recognized the challenge that comes with it.

"The Royal Challengers Bangalore are a good team, and it's enjoyable to play against a good team. It's going to be challenging for us as they have good batters. But I am excited about facing the challenge." he said.

This will be Delhi's first game after a gap of 5 days. They are coming off a comprehensive win over KKR, and Ahmed believes that the rest has helped players energize their batteries for the challenge ahead.

"Our preparations are going on very well. We've had a long break, so it's been good for fast bowlers as we need more rest. We've had some sessions in the swimming pool and training sessions in the gym in the last few days."

Ahmed has taken seven wickets in 3 games at an average alongside an economy rate of 12.29/7.17, and he will again be the key for Delhi in the powerplay and backend.
