IPL 2022 | BCCI plans for Big Finale, hints at Mega Closing Ceremony: Reports

Indian Premier League (IPL) has returned to India after two years, and the BCCI is leaving no stone unturned to make it a grandiose event. With the inclusion of two new teams this year, the IPL's craze has penetrated further into the masses, and the BCCI is ensuring that the fans get all the entertainment they deserve.

In light of the Covid-19 protocols getting less and less strict throughout the country, the BCCI is considering a mega closing ceremony on the day of the finale.

This year's IPL final will be held at Shri Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 29th May. Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be hosted by the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, while Ahmedabad will host Qualifier 2. However, the closing ceremony plans are not 100% certain yet.

"We are discussing having the closing ceremony for this year's final in Ahmedabad and we wanted to bring the color of IPL back, so you might see a closing ceremony. The idea is under process and we are yet to take a final call on it, once a decision is taken, we will appoint an event management company for the same," a source confirmed to Sports Tak.

The last time IPL had an opening, and a closing ceremony was in 2018. In 2019, the funds for the opening ceremony were donated to the families of CRPF personnel who had lost their lives in the Pulwama attack. Unfortunately, in 2020 and 2021, the ceremonies could not be held due to Covid protocols.

IPL has had grand closing ceremonies in the past, though, where the likes of Salman Khan, Bipasha Basu, Shahid Kapoor, Shamita Shetty, and AR Rahman have dazzled the stage.

A mega closing ceremony this year will be an icing on the cake for the fans of the most popular cricket league in the world.
