In a significant development, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) has announced a formidable squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Swashbuckling keeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been appointed the skipper, while several prominent IPL names have also made it into the team.
Ishan Kishan named Jharkhand captain for SMAT 2025-26
The JSCA has confirmed Jharkhand's squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy competition. Explosive batter Ishan Kishan is all set to lead the side, with the likes of Kumar Kushagra, Robin Minz and Anukul Roy also being included in the team.
Ishan Kishan boasts plethora of experience, having featured in 206 T20 matches. Apart from Jharkhand, the 27-year-old has represented several IPL franchises, including Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad with distinction.
Ishan, who has amassed 5270 runs at a magnificent strike rate of 134.20 in T20 cricket, recently played for India-A in the unofficial ODIs against South Africa-A. Despite failing in the first ODI, Ishan bounced back in style, slamming a glorious half-century in the decider at Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot.
Besides Ishan Kishan, the presence of Kushagra, Minz and Anukul Roy make Jharkhand a formidable side. Kushagra and Robin Minz are well-known for his hard-hitting skills, while Anukul Roy can be handy with his all-round prowess.

Jharkhand are placed in elite group D alongside Delhi, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Saurashtra and Tripura. They will take on Delhi in their first match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy 2025-26 on November 26.
