Ireland to Host India and Bangladesh in 2023 Summer

Cricket Ireland has confirmed that India will take a tour of the Emerald Isle for a three-match T20I series in August 2023.

The series is slated to run from August 18-23 at Malahide and marks the second visit of India to Ireland in the consecutive years. The Men in Blue featured in two T20Is versus Ireland last summer in Dublin and ended up winning the series 2-0.

"Summer 2023 will be a feast of men’s cricket but will look very different to normal for fans. We can today confirm India visiting Ireland for a second consecutive year and confirm the World Cup Super League series against Bangladesh will proceed in early May. This is on top of the already announced Test match at Lord’s in June and the three-match ODI series in September against England," Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland said as quoted in the issued press release.

Leading up to the India series, Ireland will also lock horns with Bangladesh in three ODIs. The ODI series will be played at Chelmsford, England and is of utmost importance for Ireland as a 3-0 victory will give them a direct qualification for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

In an otherwise scenario, they would have to travel to Zimbabwe, where the qualifiers are scheduled.

"We will be taking on Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series that offers us a shot at World Cup qualification – and while they are home matches, we’ve made the decision to play the fixtures in Chelmsford. The reason for this is mostly around maximising our chances of playing the three matches – as we need to play and win the three games to qualify," he added.

Currently, Ireland are on a subcontinent tour. They will play Bangladesh in three ODIs, three T20Is and a Test match. This will be followed by an away two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
