Mumbai Indians’ stalwarts Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav, alongside ICC chairman Jay Shah, shared a high-profile interaction with Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, during his Mumbai visit.

The royal, in the city for a business roundtable, took time to connect with the cricketers, with Rohit presenting him a Team India jersey. The meet, blending sports and diplomacy, came ahead of Mumbai's match against Delhi Capitals which is scheduled for Sunday, April 13.

ICC chairman Jay Shah also shared his delight to have met with the tycoon on his Twitter handle. "Delighted to help connect cricket with visionary leadership in Mumbai where it was a true honour to meet His Highness @HamdanMohammed with @ImRo45, @hardikpandya7 and @surya_14kumar. These moments typify the uniting influence of cricket worldwide."

In the video, Rohit Sharma was seen handing Hamdan an Idian jersey with all of the cricketers' signatures on it. A light-hearted chat session also unfolded as was seen in the video.

Posting a photo of the interaction on Instagram, Suryakumar wrote, “Honoured to have met the Crown Prince of Dubai, HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, along with @jayshah220988 , @rohitsharma45 and @hardikpandya93. Delighted to find out and talk about our common favourite topic.”

This meetup comes amidst MI’s turbulent IPL 2025 campaign, where the five-time champions languish eighth with just one win in five matches.

MI’s On-Field Struggles Contrast Off-Field Glamour

While the Dubai royals’ engagement spotlighted cricket’s global appeal, Mumbai Indians face mounting pressure to revive their IPL season. Suryakumar Yadav remains their lone consistent batter, but MI’s 12-run loss to RCB last week underscored their frailties.

With a must-win clash against Delhi Capitals on April 13, Hardik Pandya’s leadership faces a stern test as the team seeks to climb from the lower half of the table.
