The wait is finally over, the list of players for the IPL 2026 auction has been officially announced. Out of a massive 1,390 players who signed up, only 350 players have made the final shortlist. These players will go under the hammer at the auction in Abu Dhabi on December 16, starting at 1 PM UAE time (2:30 PM IST).
BCCI reveals IPL 2026 auction list
The final list includes 240 Indian players and 110 overseas players. Among these, 224 are uncapped Indian players meaning they haven’t played for India yet and 14 uncapped foreign players. This adds a lot of new and exciting talent to this year’s auction pool.
Notably, all the 10 franchises will fight for 77 available squad spots, including 31 slots for overseas players. The highest base price remains ₹2 crore, and 40 players have chosen to enter the auction with this top reserve price.
35 new players added in the IPL auction 2026 list
Interestingly, the BCCI originally shared a longer list of 1,355 names with franchises, asking them to pick players they wanted in the final pool. After their inputs, the list was trimmed down, and 35 new names were added, players who were not in the earlier list.
One surprise addition is Quinton de Kock, the South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batter. He wasn’t in the initial list, but a franchise requested his inclusion. Recently back from retirement, he impressed with a century against India, which may boost his chances this auction. His base price this year is ₹1 crore, half of what it was in the last mega auction. After a disappointing season, KKR released him.
A few Sri Lankan players, like Kusal Perera, Binura Fernando, Dunith Wellalage, and Traveen Mathew, also appear as new entries.
Notably, the auction will begin with capped players, grouped by role, batters, all-rounders, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers, and spinners. Then the uncapped players will follow. Big names like Cameron Green, Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, and David Miller feature early in the lineup.
After the first 70 players are presented, the auction will move into an “accelerated” phase to fast-track the remaining players.
