In a big development regarding the 19th edition of the IPL, it has been reported that the mini-auction will be held in December 2025. The auction is likely to be held in India this time, unlike the previous two years, and the probable dates for the much-awaited event are from 13 to 15 December.

The retention date is likely to be 15th November and the fate of many big names might be decided till then. There have been a lot of talks regarding the releases and trade of star players in the last few months, and according to latest report, the uncertainty around some big players like Sanju Samson and Venkatesh Iyer continues to linger on.

CSK, RR likely to make maximum releases before auction

According to Cricbuzz, Chennai Super Kings, who finished last in the 2025 edition, are likely to make maximum changes to their squad. Their purse has already been boosted due to the retirement of Ravichandran Ashwin, and there are likely to be other high-profile releases.

Along with CSK, the Rajasthan Royals, who finished at the second-last position, might also release some of their highly priced players. There have been reports in the past that Sanju Samson does not want to continue with RR, but with the removal of Rahul Dravid, there are speculations that the franchise is making desperate moves to keep their captain intact.

The Cricbuzz report also states that Cameron Green would be the hottest property in the IPL. The Australian all-rounder could not take part in the last IPL due to his injury, but he is fit now and would be a valuable addition in many franchises looking for a top-class, genuine all-rounder.
