3. KL Rahul Fetching INR 14 Cr

One of the biggest talking points ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction was the release of KL Rahul by LSG and his being available in the market. Talks about teams like RCB, KKR, CSK, MI and PBKS going after was doing the headlines and it was expected that he will break the banks during the auction. Even though one of the pitched teams, Delhi Capitals bought him, the price of INR 14 Cr was a bit of a shocker given the class, quality and captaincy experience that he brings to the table.

2. David Warner Unsold

David Warner is the highest run scorer as an overseas player in the IPL. He has a lot of experience and has also been the orange cap winner three times. Despite the experience and his previous exploits, none of the franchises were interested in the Australian veteran. Yes, he had his worst season in IPL 2024, the quality and pedigree of Warner cannot be denied. Thus, David Warner going unsold was one of the biggest shockers of Day 1 in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

1. Ventakesh Iyer Sold For INR 23.75 Cr

The defending IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders bought Venkatesh Iyer for INR 23.75 Cr. There was an intense bidding war for the player between Royal Challengers Benagluru and the Kolkata Knight Riders. After an intense face-off, Venkatesh Iyer's services was secured by KKR for the whopping amount. Even though KKR might have plans of him, a price between INR 10-15 Cr might have been justified for the Indian all-rounders.
