Lucknow Super Giants' pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who made his India debut on Monday, October 6, against Bangladesh, is having the best time of his life as he is all set to be retained by LSG for IPL 2025.
According to a report from PTI, an IPL insider mentioned that Mayank is all set to be among the top three retentions by Lucknow.
"There is no way that LSG will put a rare bowler like Mayank back in the auction pool. They have invested in him for the past two seasons, and he will certainly be one among the top three retentions," an IPL insider privy to the developments told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
Mayank Yadav's India Debut Makes Things Difficult For LSG
Before the debut, LSG could have sealed Mayank's services for just four crores, but now they need to spend at least 11 crores if they keep him at the 3rd spot in the retention list.
The retention prices for capped players are Rs 18 crore (No.1), Rs 14 crore (No.2) and Rs 11 crore (no.3). For retention numbers 4 and 5, the value would again shoot up to Rs 18 crore and Rs 14 crore, respectively. The deadline for announcing the retention list is October 31.
Not A Similar Case For Nitish Kumar Reddy
On the other hand, SRH might overlook Nitish Kumar Reddy as the franchise will possibly go for Pat Cummins, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma as the first three retentions.
Reddy, who also made his India debut against Bangladesh in the first T20I, had an impressive IPL 2025, but he has been overpowered by several stars in the Hyderabad team, which is why, the franchise look at him more like a Right To Match (RTM) candidate in the long run.
