Will Jacks was one of the brightest players in the IPL last season. The Englishman even scored a century against the Gujarat Titans and replaced the out of form, Glenn Maxwell in the playing XI. However, RCB decided to let go off him ahead of the auctions.
In perhaps the biggest shocker of the auction, Mumbai Indians bought his services for 5.25 crore. Interestingly, RCB had the RTM to use, but to everyone's surprise, the franchise decided against it and Jacks went to Mumbai.
RCB had use one RTM on Swapnil Singh and they had a shot to buy back Jacks by using their second RTM, but they ignored it and allowed a talented player to join the 5-time IPL champions.
Why RCB didn't use RTM on Jacks?
Interestingly, RCB bought Tim David for INR 3 crore in the auction, and both Tim David and Will Jacks are like-to-like players. Tim David has more experience of playing in the IPL and can be used as a finisher, which the franchise needs at the moment.
Plus, Jacks generally plays at the top of the order and RCB already have Phil Salt and Virat Kohli there. Hence, there was no need for Jacks.
Will Jacks IPL career and stats
In 8 IPL matches last season, Jacks scored 230 runs, at a strike-rate of 175, including a solitary hundred which he scored against GT. He was one of their brightest prospects, but RCB decided not to buy him back.
