Delhi Capitals is set to face the Rajasthan Royals unit in match number 11 of the ongoing IPL 2023 season. The fixture will be hosted by the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati, thus marking the venue’s only second-ever IPL game after it made its tournament debut earlier this week.

The stadium is serving as one of the two home grounds for Rajasthan Royals, and will continue the Royals’ trend of commemorating late Shane Warne in the Delhi Capitals clash.

A day before the showdown, Delhi Capitals acknowledged Guwahati’s tribute for Shane Warne, describing it as a “royal gesture” on part of the Rajasthan Royals.

Delhi Capitals pours tribute for First Royal

Winless Delhi Capitals will be aiming to register their first win this season when they take on Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals on April 8. Ahead of the much-awaited contest, the Capitals acknowledged Guwahati’s tribute for late spinner and former Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Warne.

Warne led an underdog-tagged RR to a title victory in the first-ever edition of IPL back in 2008. The World Cup-winning Australian legend remained a part of the Royals franchise for the subsequent three IPL seasons before announcing his retirement in 2011.

Despite his retirement, the cricketer continued his association with the outfit as a team mentor. However, the great man passed away because of a heart attack at the age of just 52 which shocked the entire cricketing world.

Since then, the Rajasthan Royals has launched a tribute campaign to commemorate Shane Warne’s legacy, dubbed “Forever the First Royal.”

The RR-DC fixture is scheduled to commence at 3:30 PM IST. While the David Warner-led Capitals side will be hunting for their first win of the season, the Royals will be looking to shrug off their recent five-run defeat against the Punjab Kings.
