IPL 2022 | RR name Corbin Bosch as a replacement for Coulter-Nile

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) have finally announced a replacement for their foreign seam bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile. The South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been added to the squad in place of Nathan.

The 34-year-old picked up a calf injury during Rajasthan Royals' opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He bowled three overs for the franchise in their first game and conceded 48 runs at an economy rate of 16. He injured himself while trying to bowl the first ball of the final over. Coulter-Nile picked up a calf injury and walked back to the pavilion during his follow-through.

Since then, the injury had refrained him from playing for RR. So, after sitting on the bench for the coming few matches, he flew back to his home in Australia for rehab.

Notably, the seamer was picked by Rajasthan Royals during the 2022 mega-auction for an amount of INR 2 crore. Nathan's replacement, Corbin Bosch, initially formed a part of the team's squad as a net bowler. However, RR had acquired the services of the all-rounder ahead of IPL 2022 owing to his brilliant performance in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge.

He scored 163 runs in the tournament at an average of 81.50 while picking up ten wickets. As far as his records in the shortest format of the game are concerned, he has played 30 T20 matches. In 30 games, Bosch has picked up 17 wickets at an economy rate of 8.16 and an average of 47.7. He also has 151 runs to his name at an average of 18.9.

As per the statement released by the franchise, they shelled out INR 20 lakh to make Corbin Bosch a part of the main squad.

"Corbin Bosch joins Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for Nathan Coulter-Nile. Rajasthan Royals (RR) have signed Corbin Bosch as a replacement for Australia's Nathan Coulter-Nile for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022,"

"Coulter-Nile suffered a calf injury in March and has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament. His replacement, Corbin Bosch, is a 27-year old all-rounder from South Africa who was part of the Rajasthan Royals squad as a net bowler,"

"He has played 30 T20s, scored 151 runs, and taken 18 wickets. He will join RR at the price of INR 20 Lakh," the statement by Rajasthan Royals read.

#OTD in 2017 | Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan drew curtains to their illustrious career with a series win

A series win, an enticing contest and a Test match for the ages. Pakistan veterans Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan could not have asked for a better send-off. It was May 14th, 2017, when the Pakistan legends jointly closed their respective chapters of international careers, which had enormous highs and lows. For context, the backstory shows that the Test series between the two nations (Pakistan and West Indies) was on the line. The series then was levelled 1-1, with the visitors dominating the better part of the decider. Setting a target of 304 runs at a spicy surface of the Windsor Park, Dominica, in the 3rd Test, Pakistan were left with the task to bundle out the hosts in about 97 overs, with the West Indies' score at the end of the penultimate day reading 7/1. Misbah and Younis had already done their jobs, with the former scoring a valiant 59-run knock in the first innings and the latter surviving a collapse in the following innings, working hard for his 35 runs. But as the last day of the series' 3rd Test beckoned, the duo were yet to reach another high of their already-successful careers. Marching towards the ultimate goal, the touring side had already laid one hand on the trophy, with ace spinner Yasir Shah aiming to bid Misbah and Younis a perfect farewell. That said, Pakistan cricket’s story cannot end without a plot twist, which came in the form of Roston Chase. Although the all-rounder spent hours pushing for a draw at the crease, his partners kept throwing their wickets away. Chase finally found support from Jason Holder, Devendra Bishoo, Alzarri Joseph and Shannon Gabriel. The batters led a block fest with the series at stake. But with seven balls to spare in the day, Gabriel fell short of patience and went for a wild slog off Shah, who broke the Caribbean defiance as Pakistan clinched a 2-1 away Test series win. At last, it was a happy goodbye for those dressed for success. Misbah made his Test debut in 2001 and ended his career with 5,222 runs in 75 matches. Younis was no different and accumulated as many as 10,099 runs in a 17-year-long career.
