IPL 2022 | OneCricket's Future Stars of the Tournament

The Indian Premier League has been the proving ground for a lot of talent across the globe. Players have tried their best to establish a name for themselves throughout the years, however, the gates of glory have opened for a select few who have proven time and again, why they belong at the grandest stage of them all!

The 2022 edition of the coveted tournament saw ten teams collide in hopes to lift the title. The two-month long journey saw debutant Gujarat Titans crowned as the champions after an impressive season.

However, it was not just the franchise but various players from different sides that stepped up their game this season and stamped their mark with authority.

After a lot of planning, discussing and analysing, our team at OneCricket have come to a consensus and present you with the Future Stars XI from the Indian Premier League 2022.

Abhishek Sharma: Abhishek Sharma finally lived up to all the hype and expectations behind him as the batter emerged as the highest run scorer for Sunrisers with 426 runs to his name in fourteen outings with an average above 30. Bought for INR 6.5 crores, Sharma was a bargain for his franchise.

Yasasvi Jaiswal: This was an eye opening season for the critics who ever doubted the potential of Jaiswal, the young left hander proved his potential batting alongside Jos Buttler in the opening spot for Rajasthan Royals. The batter had 258 runs in his ten outings and played the perfect anchor to Buttler who was firing on all cylinders.

Rajat Patidar: Patidar’s journey in the IPL has been nothing short of a fairytale, coming in as a substitute for Luvneet Sisodia. The top order batter established himself as a prominent name in RCB’s line-up, his ton in the qualifiers against LSG will be set in stone for years to come.

Tilak Varma: Tilak Varma has been the silver lining to Mumbai’s horrendous performance in this edition of the IPL. The batter emerged as the second-highest top scorer for Mumbai with 397 runs to his name. The batter surely impressed the experts and has garnered a lot of attention with his individual performances.

Tim David (✈️ ): This has been a good turnaround for the all-rounder from Singapore, while he failed to leave much impact, he surely impressed the fans and critics with his power hitting in the business end of the tournament, justifying why he is amongst the names who are touted to make it big in the future.

Jitesh Sharma (wk): Vidharbha’s Jitesh Sharma had a rise to prominence this season for Punjab Kings, as the wicket keeper batter played some exciting knocks despite Punjab’s early exit from the tournament. The batter had 234 runs to his name in twelve outings with a staggering strike rate of 163.64.

Sai Kishore: The spinner from Tamil Nadu was an ace in the sleeves for the champions this season as they brought him into the fray in the very end of the tournament. Kishore justified the role, even through playing second fiddle to Rashid Khan, he managed to remain economical which is no easy task.

Obed McCoy (✈️ )The West Indian had an impressive stint with the Rajasthan Royals this season as he bagged eleven wickets with an average of 21.55, while his performances left a lot to desire in some games, there is one thing for sure, McCoy has the potential to become one of the biggest names in the game.

Maheesh Theekshana (✈️ ): The Sri Lankan mystery spinner had a mixed bag of a season, with some good, some bad and some excellent outings. However, there is one thing for sure, Theekshana has the potential to set the stage on fire and could be one of the biggest talents in the coming years.

Umran Malik: All the praise in the world currently falls short for Umran Malik. The youngster from Jammu has been terrific this season and proved his calibre by clocking around 150 kmph with ease. The bowler has received his maiden international call-up after his run with SRH and will hope to repeat the same for the Indian side.

Mohsin Khan: The world’s fascination with left arm quicks has been hidden from no one, Mohsin Khan was one such find for India as the youngster established himself as one of LSG’s spearheads this season. Mohsin had fourteen wickets to his name with an impressive rate of 5.97 while bowling majority of his overs coming in the powerplay.

While there were a lot of names under consideration and it was tough to make the final call, there were some players who barely missed the cut of making it into the Team of the Tournament, due to certain team combinations.

Notable Mentions: Mukesh Choudhary, Dewald Brevis (✈️ )
