T20 Blast 2022 | LAN vs DER | Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, CREX XI

Lancashire will lock horns with Derbyshire in the 28th match of the English T20 Blast 2022. The North Group fixture is slated to be played at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, on Wednesday (June 01).

Lancashire swallowed a hard pill in their opening fixture as the game against their arch-rival Yorkshire ended in a tie. However, they outplayed Worcestershire in their next match before knocking down Nottinghamshire by a huge margin in their most recent encounter.

After inserting to bat first, the Red Rose club posted a healthy total of 178/7 on the board courtesy of Keaton Jennings' half-century knock. In reply, Nottinghamshire bundled out for just 91 runs handing Lancashire an 87-runs victory.

Liam Livingstone was the pick of the bowlers for the Lancashire Lightning as he ended up picking up 3 wickets for 34 runs. Tom Hartley and Richard Gleeson were other contributors with the ball as the duo got two wickets each.

On the other hand, Derbyshire have also played three matches so far, winning two while losing one. They won their last fixture against Yorkshire by 9 wickets.

After getting delayed for hours, the match was ultimately reduced as both the teams got 8 overs each to prove their mettle. Batting first, the White Rose club could manage only 83 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allocated overs.

Derbyshire Falcons, in reply, chased down the target with ease as captain Shan Masood and Wayne Madsen stitched a match-winning partnership of 69* runs to take the team past the finish line in 7.3 overs.

With both the teams striving for another win and looking to continue their winning run in the tournament, we are in for another cracking T20 game at Manchester.

Pitch Report: The pitch at Old Trafford offers a good competitive wicket, which has got extra pace and bounce. Batters will enjoy pushing the ball in the leg side region, given it offers a shorter boundary. We can expect a score of 180-190 here, with both the captains looking to bowl first after winning the toss.
