Australia tour of Sri Lanka receives green light by Cricket Australia

Despite the ongoing economic and social crisis in Sri Lanka, Cricket Australia (CA) have decided to go ahead with its scheduled tour of the nation. Accordingly, the Australian men's team will land on Sri Lankan shores on June 1 for a full-fledged tour consisting of Tests, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20 Internationals (T20Is).

Reports doing rounds said that Australian players have shown reluctance and were apprehensive about this tour on moral grounds, given the situation on the ground.

Speaking to cricbuzz, a CA official said"We've been keeping in regular contact with the governments of both countries and SLC and all is good and there are no changes to the plans. The T20 squad is leaving Australia tomorrow afternoon. They're looking forward to the tour, with the three T20 games an important part of the build-up to the ICC World Cup in Australia in October-November. The squad has great respect for the Sri Lanka team and are anticipating a hard-fought and exciting series."

The tour will kick off with a 3 match T20I series starting on June 7 at Colombo. The final match will be played at Pallekele, which will also host the first two ODIs from the 5-match series starting June 14.

The remaining ODIs will move back to Colombo. Sri Lanka Cricket Board has confirmed that the limited-overs leg will be all day-night affairs.

SLC secretary Mohan de Silva clarified"There is no disruption in the schedule and the white ball games will be night or day-night affair."

The two-Tests will be played at Galle. The first red-ball game will begin on June 29, and the final match of the tour will commence on July 08.
