IPL 2022 | LSG vs MI | Match 26 Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, Fantasy XI

Mumbai Indians (MI) will be searching for their maiden victory in the ongoing season when they cross swords against the new entrants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 26th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, set to be played on Saturday at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

The five-time champions Mumbai have lost the first five games of the ongoing tournament and are currently reeling at the bottom of the points table.

Talking about their previous encounter, MI were humbled by the Punjab Kings as they failed to chase the total of 198 and succumbed to a gut-wrenching 12 runs defeat.

The team selection hasn't looked up to the mark in their last couple of games, where they couldn't fill the quota of four overseas players, despite investing half of their sum in the auction.

Tim David, who is known for his brutal hitting and can chip in with some overs with the ball, hasn't got a place in the team after a couple of bad outings. Likewise, Riley Meredith and Fabian Allen are yet to get a game for Mumbai.

Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma have consistently scored runs for Mumbai, lessening the burden on Suryakumar Yadav. However, their bowling is still an issue, with Jasprit Bumrah being their only reliable player with the ball.

Talking about KL Rahul-led new entrants Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, have been brilliant in their debut season, winning three out of their five games so far. They are currently placed at the fifth spot in the standings with 6 points in their account.

KL Rahul and co. were handed a three-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals in their most recent match, and they will be keen to return to their winning ways against the Mumbai Indians, who are yet to taste a victory in the tournament.

The inclusion of Marcus Stoinis is a significant boost for the Super Giants as he can serve as a finisher with the bat and can offer a couple of overs with the ball too. Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi and Jason Holder have been outstanding with the ball, while Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni have done the talking with the bat.

With the likes of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock present in the arsenal of Lucknow, LSG will start as the favourites. However, one can't take the five-time champions lightly, given how they performed in the past years. With two points up for grab, we are in for another cracking game.
