IPL 2022 | Deepak Chahar ruled out with back woes; Rasikh Salam follows suit

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have suffered a setback just before their game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) tonight as young seamer Rasikh Salam has been ruled out of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after suffering a back injury.

Salam is the second player who has been ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury just days after Chennai’s superstar Deepak Chahar, who was spending his time at the NCA, recovering from a quadriceps tear. Chennai Super Kings are yet to name a replacement for Chahar, and we could see the franchise make a new addition to their ranks in the upcoming days.

Meanwhile, Kolkata have named young seamer Harshit Rana the replacement for the injured Salam. The bowler had just made two appearances for the franchise in the league and failed to pick up any wickets to his name.

Chennai will surely be a tad upset with the development as the franchise broke the bank to purchase Chahar for a whooping sum of INR 14 crores. The medium-pacer was slated to make a comeback in the second half of the tournament.

However, the new incident will spoil the party for the defending champions who have been struggling to pick up wickets in the powerplay without their star all-rounder in their ranks.

The Men in Yellow will look to add a new ball bowler who can provide them with the early wickets as the team looks to make a strong comeback in the tournament after a horrendous start, losing four out of their five contests.
