IPL 2022 | Delhi Capitals' Patrick Farhat tests positive for Covid

The Indian Premier League(IPL) 2022 has been hit by Covid-19 for the first time as Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart has tested positive for the virus. The IPL issued a press release on Friday to confirm the first positive case of this edition of the league.

The former team India physio is on duty at the ongoing IPL edition for the Delhi Capitals as the virus has hit him. It will surely raise a few eyebrows, and the tension might arise in the different team camps.

Covid-19 has once again taken centre stage in the toughest twenty, and the Board of Cricket Control in India will have to ensure that the number of cases doesn’t rise from here on. The BCCI will try its best to avoid a situation similar to the past two seasons and will try its best to complete the league according to the pre-decided schedule.

In 2020, the Indian Premier League was postponed and was organised a few months later in the UAE due to the huge number of Covid-19 cases in India.

A similar situation occurred in the next edition; the BCCI decided to organise the 2021 edition of the league in India, but due to an increase in the number of cases in the camps of different teams, the IPL was stopped midway (after 29 matches). As a result, the second phase was shifted from India to UAE to complete the edition.

The Delhi based franchise has played four matches so far this season, winning two and losing two. DC are placed seventh in the points table and are set to face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday (April 16) at the Wankhede in Mumbai.
