IPL 2022 | BCCI happy with preparations at Eden Gardens for playoffs: CAB

Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is happy with arrangements made at the Eden Gardens for the upcoming playoff matches of the IPL 2022.

The iconic Eden Gardens will play host to Qualifier 1 and Eliminator of the ongoing season of the lucrative T20 league later this month.

The league phase of the 15th season will culminate on April 22, post which qualified teams will travel to Kolkata and Ahmedabad for the playoffs.

While Qualifier 1 will take place on May 24, the Eliminator game between the third and fourth-placed team will be held on the following day.

Recently, an official team representing the IPL visited the Eden Gardens to take stock of the facilities and arrangements and were happy with what they saw, CAB President Avishek Dalmiya has claimed.

The IPL team also met with Dalmiya and secretary Snehashis Ganguly.

"The meeting was fruitful. The team was satisfied with the arrangements," Dalmiya said, as quoted by the Times of India.

The Eden Gardens had also played hosts to a three-match T20I series against the West Indies earlier this year.

While that series was played under restrictions on crowd capacity owing to the pandemic, 100% capacity will be allowed during the playoffs.

The caravan of playoffs will move from Kolkata to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for Qualifier 2 and the grand finale of the showpiece tournament.

While Qualifier 2 will be staged on May 27, the summit clash in the 1.5 lakh seater stadium will take place on May 29.
