As Pakistan skipper Babar Azam continues to struggle for runs in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, former captain and chief selector Inzamam Ul Haq has shared a valuable piece of advice for the Pakistan batting maverick.

Notably, the Men in Green have delivered back-to-back stellar performances to make it to the final of the ongoing showpiece event in Dubai.

They started their tournament campaign in UAE with a five-wicket defeat against the arch-rivals India, however, after that, they sparked a remarkable comeback to secure a berth in the finals.

They went on to steamroll Hong Kong to qualify for the Super-4 and then avenged their group stage loss against India by defeating them by five wickets in the Super-4 encounter.

The Babar Azam-led unit also thwarted Afghanistan in a nail-biting encounter to graft their way to the finals, before losing the dead rubber, which can be considered the pre-rehearsal of the final against Sri Lanka by five wickets.

Score runs, do not stay at the wicket: Inzamam Ul Haq

Amid all this, one thing that has remained an area of concern for the Pakistan fans and cricket fraternity is the poor form of their skipper Babar Azam, who has failed to regain his rhythm in the continental tournament.

The swashbuckling opening batter came into the ongoing Asia Cup T20 tournament on the back of a string of astounding performances across formats. However, in the UAE he has failed to impress in all five innings played so far and has only been able to score a total of 63 runs.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Inzamam Ul Haq has advised the struggling batter to bat more aggressively, and score runs for the team rather than spending more time in the middle.

"Batters always gain confidence when they score, not by staying at the wicket."

Speaking on the ongoing final match against the Island nation, the former batting veteran asserted that the Green Shirts possess better bowling than other Asian teams participating in the tournament and their bowlers can easily defend anything between 170-175.

"Our bowling is better than any of the teams participating in Asia Cup 2022. Pakistan can restrict Sri Lanka in the second innings if the former scores 170-175 by opting to bat first."

Pakistan is currently taking on Sri Lanka in the summit clash of the multinational tournament at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Babar Azam has won the toss and invited the Dasun Shanaka-led side to take the strike first (at the time of writing).
