After nearly three years, 1021 days to be precise, the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli brought an end to his century drought with his maiden T20I hundred in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 on Thursday, September 8.

The batting maverick looked a detailed replica of his vintage self as he stepped out to the spinners, found even minute gaps to deposit the ball, and even played an exquisite sweep shot effortlessly.

Kohli made a mockery of the Afghanistan bowling attack and sent almost all the bowlers on a leather hunt as he pulled, flicked, cut, drove, and swept his way to get his highest T20I score of unbeaten 122 runs from just 61 deliveries.

Definitely Good News For Team India: Inzamam-ul-Haq

The former Indian captain has been hogging all the limelight on social media since Thursday night (September 8) with Twitter overflowing with wishes for India's modern-day run machine. The Pakistan cricket fraternity has not stayed behind in showering praises on Kohli after his much-awaited heroics.

Inzamam-ul-Haq is the latest addition to this tally. The former Pakistan captain spoke at length about Virat Kohli's innings against Afghanistan and what it meant for India as a team.

“It is definitely good news for India that Kohli scored a hundred after more than a thousand days. His form is crucial for India to win matches going forward. Kohli himself will be relieved and will be much more relaxed now.”

Virat Kohli, who took a six-week long break ahead of Asia Cup 2022 emerged as the leading run-scorer of the multinational tournament with 276 runs from five matches, including two half-centuries and a hundred.

With the T20I World Cup coming up in Australia next month, team India will be happy to have their most destructive batter's form back. Kohli himself will head into the marquee event in a relaxed frame of mind.
