The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will pay INR 7.5 lakhs per IPL match to every player in the upcoming edition apart from their income from their respective franchise's contracted amount. The groundbreaking development has been confirmed by none other than Jay Shah, still the board's secretary.
Jay Shah Makes IPL 2025 Bigger And Richer
Needless to say, this is first time a player can earn a fixed amount of money in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In addition, the revamped salary structure will ensure a player can earn up to INR 1.05 crore if they play all matches for his side. Notably, this does not include the amount they would be earning from his contract, which will either be from the mega auction or the retention.
"In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the #IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount. Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season! This is a new era for the #IPL and our players!" Shah said on X (Formerly known as Twitter).
How many retention for IPL 2025?
While there are many authentic reports that there will be a maximum of five retentions and one Right To Match (RTM) card for each franchise before the mega auction, the official confirmation is still pending. If rumours are to be believed, it should be official by tonight or tomorrow.
