Brief Scores - SAW: 189-4 (20 overs) [Tazmin Brits: 81 (56), Marizanne Kapp: 57 (343; Pooja Vastrakar 2/23 (4), Radha Yadav 2/40 (4)] beat INDW: 177-4 (20 overs) [Jemimah Rodriguez: 53 (30), Smriti Mandhana: 46 (30); Chole Tryon 1/32 (4), Nonkululeko Mlaba 1/32 (4)] by 12 runs.

In a nail biting final over thriller, South Africa emerged victorious for the first time in this bilateral series. After batters posted a comfortable total, the bowlers did their job well to keep the heavyweight Indian lineup quiet.

Meanwhile, Indian batters lacked the intent and were extremely slow in the chase which led to a shortage of 12 runs in the end. With that, South Africa are 1-0 in the three-game T20I series.

Tazmin Brits, Marizanne Kapp Leads Charge With 96-Run Partnership

After being invited to bat first, South Africa Women showed good intent with a 44-runs powerplay which set the tone for the first innings.

While Radha Yadav broke the 50-runs opening stand in 8th over, Tazmin Brits and Marizanne Kapp stitched a 96-runs partnership to outclass the Indian spin attack. Brits got 81 off 56 balls whereas Kapp also scored a half century at a 172.73 strike rate.

The duo pushed gears in the death overs by attacking the hosts' prime bowlers. Brits stayed on the crease till the final delivery and powered South Africa to a 189 runs mammoth total.

For India, veteran Deepti Sharma proved the most expensive with a 11.20 economy whereas Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav also finished with over 10.00 economy. Pooja Vastrakar and Radha picked up two wickets each of the only four wickets South Africa lost in the first innings.

Harmanpreet Kaur-Jemimah Rodriguez's Big Partnership Goes In Vain

India's challenging chase started on an excellent note, with Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma hitting with utmost freedom. Despite Verma's wicket in the 6th over, India were 61/1 by the end of the powerplay.

However, things went downhill following Mandana's dismissal in the 10th over. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodriguez fought till the end. However, despite the 90-run partnership, the duo couldn't steer India through the finish line.

Kaur and Jemimah struggled to accelerate things in the middle overs, and towards the death, the required run rate kept piling up. Yet, Jemimah kept the belief alive with a gritty half-century.

Owing to an 18-run over from Ayabonga Khaka, India's ask for the final over was reduced to 21 runs. Kaur got the momentum going with a four off the first ball. But Mlaba kept her calm and restricted the duo to only singles and doubles as South Africa won the game by 12 runs.
