Winning is a habit and Shivam Dube seems to have mastered it! The big-hitting all-rounder from Mumbai has etched his name in cricket’s record books, becoming the first player in history to win 30 consecutive T20I matches.
Shivam Dube Creates T20I History As India’s Ultimate Lucky Charm
If Shivam Dube plays, India wins—simple as that! His dream run started back in 2019 and since then, he has been part of India’s playing XI in 30 T20I victories without tasting defeat.
Dube’s journey in T20Is wasn’t all smooth sailing at the start. He made his debut against Bangladesh in November 2019, but India lost that match. In his first five T20Is, he had to endure two losses. But after that? Unbeaten. Unstoppable. Unmatched.
The streak began when India thrashed New Zealand 5-0 in January 2020, and Dube was a part of every game. Then came 2024, where he played a crucial role in India’s T20 World Cup-winning campaign, featuring in all eight matches and winning them all.
Most recently, Dube was called up as a late replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy in the T20I series against England. He played the last two games and chipped in with a fifty in the fourth T20I and grabbed two wickets in the final match and ensured India ended the series on a high.
CSK Joins the Celebration
Dube’s IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings, didn’t miss the chance to hype up their star. Their official X handle posted a special tribute, declaring:
“If Dube plays, India wins. 30-0 and still going strong!” The graphic in the post proudly showcased: “Longest streak without defeat in men’s T20Is! 30-0. Since 11/12/2019.”
Shivam Dube’s Stats Speak for Themselves
Across 35 T20Is, Dube has made his presence felt. With the bat, he has piled up 531 runs in 26 innings, smashing four fifties along the way. His best knock of 63 off 32 balls against Afghanistan in January 2024.
With the ball, he’s been a handy option too, having snagged 13 wickets in 24 innings. His best bowling figures of 3/30 came against Bangladesh in 2019, a match where he played a key role in sealing a win for India.
The big question now is how long can this streak last? Every time Dube walks onto the field, India keeps winning. Whether it’s his all-round contributions or simply his lucky charm effect, this record is something cricket fans won’t forget anytime soon.
