The animosity between India and Pakistan is not unknown to anyone in the cricket fraternity. The political tiffs have brutally affected the gentlemen’s game, as India and Pakistan haven’t played a bilateral series against each other for a decade.

Men in Blue now have a face-off with their neighbours in only ICC events or the Asia Cup. Despite the sour relationship between the countries, the players from both teams have always exhibited sportsman spirit.

It is not new for Pakistani players to praise their Indian contemporaries and vice versa. India’s Test great Cheteshwar Pujara recently won a lot of hearts on social media as he heaped praise on Pakistan’s opening batter Mohammad Rizwan.

Pujara hails Rizwan as a nice guy

On Wednesday, Pujara hosted a Question and Answer session on his official Twitter handle to connect with his fans. During the session, a Pakistani cricket fan urged the Indian mainstay to reveal his experience of playing alongside Rizwan. The Test veteran didn’t shy away from hailing the opener as a nice and talented player.

The two players got to know each other during their stint for Sussex in England’s County Championship. After playing the County games, Rizwan left the camp to participate in the Asia Cup 2022, scheduled in the United Arab Emirates. Pujara, on the other hand, is still in the English nation playing the domestic One Day tournament.

The Test veteran opens up on ODI format

The batter is having a blast in England’s domestic tournaments. He recently achieved the remarkable feat of completing 5000 List A runs. Speaking of his records for Sussex, he is the second-highest run-getter in the One Day tournament with 614 runs in eight innings at an average of 102.33.

Further, during the interactive session on Twitter, Pujara also elaborated his views on One Day format. For the past few days, there is a huge debate going on in the cricket fraternity regarding the relevance of 50-over matches.

A lot of legendary players, including Ravi Shastri, have highlighted how fans are losing interest in the ODIs due to the growing popularity of franchise cricket. When a fan asked Pujara his views on the same, the batter echoed the same sentiments as the former Indian head coach.
