The families of Indian cricket players will not be allowed to travel with the team to the UAE for the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, according to reports. The aforementioned reports emerged in the wake of BCCI’s strict imposition over Indian players regarding restriction or limitations in family travel policy.

Last month, the Indian board introduced several new guidelines for the national men’s team after Rohit Sharma’s troops suffered a 1-3 humiliation in Australia.

Families to not travel for Champions Trophy

As reported by PTI, families of Indian cricket players will not be allowed to accompany the ‘Men in Blue’ in next week’s 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE. The strict restriction in family travel will prevent the likes the Anushka Sharma, Ritika Sajdeh from accompanying senior Indian players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma respectively.

Both Anushka and Ritika are often seen cheering the Indian team from the stands.

The BCCI imposed several restrictions over the Indian team, in terms of family travel, baggage limit as well as for attending mandatory training sessions after they suffered humiliating Test series defeats to New Zealand at home and to Australia (away).

Nonetheless, the Indian cricket team is slated to take flight for Dubai later this week. Clubbed in Group A alongside New Zealand, Bangladesh and tournament co-hosts Pakistan, each of India’s three opening round fixtures will be hosted by the Dubai International Stadium.

India’s first match of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will be played on February 20 against Bangladesh. India’s subsequent fixtures against Pakistan and New Zealand will be staged on February 23 and March 2 respectively.
