According to emerging reports, the BCCI selection committee might exclude experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami from India's squad for the upcoming Test series against England. As reported earlier, the Indian team for the England tour will be picked on Saturday, with Shami likely to miss out due to fitness concerns.

As reported by Express Sports, veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has failed to convince the BCCI medical team, which has apparently informed the selectors about his declined post-surgery fitness standards. 

The selectors are doubtful if the seasoned campaigner can give his best in England, with uncertainty looming over his ability to bowl longer spells. 

Furthermore, as Jasprit Bumrah might be rested in at least one game to manage his workload, the Indian think tank wants fitter fast bowlers who could last for all five Tests. 

In such a scenario, Shami's fitness issues may lead to his exclusion from the team, with the selectors considering picking several fresh faces for the much-anticipated tour. 

Shami also had a forgettable IPL season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, scalping only six wickets in nine innings at a horrendous economy of 11.23. 

Arshdeep, Anshul Kamboj Likely To Receive Maiden Test Call-Ups

The report states that the BCCI selection committee will likely pick Arshdeep Singh and Anshul Kamboj, rewarding them for their remarkable consistency in the domestic circuit. 

Arshdeep's left-arm angle and ability to swing the ball both ways can certainly make him a valuable asset for India in England. 

Meanwhile, Kamboj, who bagged 34 wickets across just 12 innings in the Ranji Trophy, can pose a serious threat to the Englishmen, owing to his nagging accuracy and ability to generate movement off the deck. 

The Indian squad for the England Tests will be selected through a press conference at 12 PM on Saturday, May 24.
