India Star Pulls Out Of Pakistan Clash In WCL As Protest Against Pahalgam Attack - Reports

In a major development, at least one Indian cricketer has reportedly pulled out of the high-voltage India Legends vs Pakistan Legends match in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. The marquee clash is scheduled for July 20 at Edgbaston.

Other reports indicated that 2–3 Indian players were considering withdrawing from the game. The decision is said to be a mark of protest against the Pahalgam terror attack, which has escalated tensions between India and Pakistan.

Pahalgam Terror Attack Sparks Player Withdrawal

While the name of the cricketer who has withdrawn is yet to be confirmed, a prominent star has reportedly decided to opt out of the much-anticipated fixture. According to a live television report on Republic TV, the cricketer has refused to take part in the game due to the deteriorating bilateral relations following the terror attack in Pahalgam. 

Other sources have also reported that 2–3 additional players could follow suit, especially after facing significant backlash on social media urging them to boycott the game.

Cricketers Protested After Pahalgam Attack

The India Legends squad includes celebrated names like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Yusuf Pathan, and Irfan Pathan. Many of these players had expressed outrage over the attack through their official social media platforms.

For instance, reacting to the tragic event, Irfan Pathan even posted on X stating, "Every time an innocent life is lost, humanity loses. It’s heartbreaking to see and hear about what happened in Kashmir today. I was just there couple of days ago — this pain feels too close."

Nevertheless, while the reports of withdrawal remain unofficial, the WCL match is still slated to start at 9 PM IST for cricket fans to enjoy.
