The explosive wicketkeeper-batter Kartik Sharma, who has been creating a lot of buzz ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League 2025 mini-auction, has faced a small setback ahead of what could be a life-changing event for him on December 16, as he finds himself on the sidelines for the remainder of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025.
According to the Rajasthan coach, the 19-year-old batter suffered a finger injury while batting or keeping. The injury is not expected to keep him out for a long duration; however, he is set to miss action for the next 10-15 days, i.e., Super League and potential final of the SMAT 2025.
“It’s not a serious injury, and he should recover in another 15-10 days. He suffered a finger injury and while batting or keeping, he experienced some discomfort and pain,” coach Ansu Jain revealed to Sportstar.
How has Kartik Sharma performed in SMAT 2025?
Playing all their group phase matches in Ahmedabad, the following are the scores accumulated by Sharma in the ongoing SMAT to help Rajasthan finish 2nd in Elite D, with 24 points.

Notably, the middle-order batter is reportedly on the radar of several IPL teams in the auction, with a few of them also calling him for the trials to showcase his talent.
His team, Rajasthan, is a part of Group A of the Super League stage, and is set to face Mumbai, Hyderabad and Haryana, as they look to reach the final. Their first match will be played vs Haryana in the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, on December 12 at 11 am (IST).
