Somerset batter Imam-ul-Haq will return to Pakistan ahead of the club's forthcoming County Championship match against Kent for personal reasons.

The left-handed batter was signed as a replacement for Matt Renshaw, who returned to Australia after his domestic cricket commitment to play the last four matches of the event.

According to the media release of the Somerset County Cricket Club, Imam will leave the club prior to their last game at Canterbury, starting on Monday. The reasons are still unspecified but it is believed that the top order Pakistan batter wants to spend some off time with his family. Imam opting out of the last game of the county season will mean that he will not be able to complete his four-match deal.

Somerset CCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry explained the reason behind the decision of their overseas signing and confirmed his unavailability for the last county game.

“Imam will return home immediately to be with his family in Pakistan. This means that he won’t be available for selection for our final fixture at Canterbury, starting on Monday."

Hurry thanked Imam for his contributions since his inception in the team.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Imam for all his contributions both on and off the field since joining the Club. On behalf of all the players, staff, and followers of Somerset County Cricket Club, we send our thoughts and support to Imam and his family at this time.”
