Imad Wasim asks justification from PCB for dropping him

The all-rounder Imad Wasim has sought justification from the PCB for his non-selection in the limited-overs team. 

Wasim has not featured for Pakistan since the T20 World Cup 2021, wherein he scalped four wickets in six appearances. 

In place of him, the likes of Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Nawaz have been included in the white-ball team.  

In an Eid special interview with Cricket Pakistan, the talented all-rounder has reckoned that his reasons for getting dropped were not satisfactory. Wasim added that the selectors have termed one of the reasons as his negative influence on the Pakistan team. 

“I have not played a single match since the World Cup. I don’t know the reason behind this, to be honest. No justification has been provided to me, and reasons are given to me, but I am dissatisfied with them. But whatever happens, happens because it is Almighty’s will,” Imad told Cricket Pakistan in an interview.

“After the contracts and the teams are announced, I have to contact on my own to find out the reasons. Sometimes they respond. Sometimes they don’t. One reason given to me was regarding the positive influence on the team,”

The 33-year-old revealed that the franchise leagues worldwide have shown interest in him after every good season. 

“I don’t think I have a negative influence. I play leagues all around the world, and whenever I play for one team, they approach me again, and that shows that I don’t have a negative influence. So this nullifies their first reason for not selecting me,” he added.

Wasim added that fitness issues have been cropped up for his non-selection, which has kept him frustrated. However, the all-rounder said he takes great pride in playing for Pakistan. 

“The fitness issues were also brought up. But truth to be told, I have a lot of dignity and pride since that is how I have always represented Pakistan. I used to get frustrated a lot by the reasons for non-selection, but now I feel extremely weird because their responses are the same,” the player concluded.
