  • If You Take The Example Of Sachin Tendulkar In 2004 Dilip Vengsarkar Issues Advice To Virat Kohli

“If you take the example of Sachin Tendulkar in 2004,” Dilip Vengsarkar issues advice to Virat Kohli

With the T20 World Cup just a few months away, the lean form of former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has emerged as a significant concern for the team. The batting maestro is going through the worst phase in his cricket career as he has smacked just one fifty in the last ten innings.

Seeing Kohli struggle with his form, former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar has come up with a solution. Vengsarkar believes that the 33-year-old should take some inspiration from Sachin Tendulkar's career to get back on track.

Kohli should follow Sachin Tendulkar from 2004

One of the major concerns for Kohli is the method of his dismissal. For the past two years, the right-hander has mostly lost his wicket while playing outside the off-stump.

"If you take the example of Sachin Tendulkar in 2004, he was getting out in the same way in Australia. So, he completely cut off that scoring area and scored 241 in the last Test match of that series without playing the cover drive. Similarly, Virat also has the ability to do the same, he needs to work hard in that area and play effectively," Vengsarkar was quoted by Khaleej Times.

Should Kohli change his technique? Vengsarkar responds

Further, the Indian great also elaborated his opinion on the change Kohli should bring in his batting technique. He added:

"Look, he is a great player, and he has scored all his runs all these years with the same technique. So I don't think there is anything wrong technically. But yes, he is getting out in the same fashion, so he should stay more alert and work hard in that area,

"The bowlers are now going to bowl that off-stump line to him all the time. They are not going to bowl on his pads, they are not going to bowl the half volleys to him," Vengsarkar concluded.
