Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This will be a rematch of the first qualifier game, which RCB easily won by chasing just 102 runs in only 10 overs.

To get to the final, PBKS beat Mumbai Indians in the eliminator match. After choosing to bowl first, PBKS saw MI put up a strong score of 203 runs.

For PBKS, Azmatullah Omarzai was the top bowler, taking 2 wickets in 4 overs. PBKS chased the target successfully, with Shreyas Iyer leading the way by scoring an unbeaten 87 runs off just 41 balls. They won the game by 5 wickets in 19 overs.

As excitement builds for the final, all eyes are on RCB’s star batter, Virat Kohli. He’s on the verge of making IPL history.

Virat Kohli Close To Making IPL History

Virat Kohli has been a key player for RCB this season. He’s scored 614 runs in 14 matches, including eight half-centuries. Now, he’s just 86 runs away from reaching 700 runs this season.

If he scores those 86 runs in the final, Kohli will become the first player in IPL history to score 700+ runs in three different seasons, a feat even the legendary Sachin Tendulkar hasn’t achieved.

The 36-year-old star batter scored 973 runs in 2016 and 741 runs in 2024. Currently, he’s tied with Chris Gayle, who also has two 700+ run seasons (2012 and 2013).

RCB have made it to the IPL final for the fourth time, while this is PBKS’s first appearance in the final since 2014. These two teams have played each other 36 times in IPL history, with each team winning 18 times.

However, RCB have won 4 of the last 5 matches between them. This will also be the second time they play each other at this particular stadium.
