Iceland Cricket’s social media took a massive dig at the Indian Premier League while sharing a sarcastic post on their official X handle. The post has sparked buzz with a "IPL 2025 Fraud and Scammers XI," highlighting underperformers from the ongoing season.
The tongue-in-cheek lineup, featuring 12 players, included five from Chennai Super Kings and two of IPL’s most expensive signings, Rishabh Pant (INR 27 crore) and Venkatesh Iyer (INR 23.75 crore).
Iceland Cricket's Savage Post Blasts IPL 2025's Underperformers
The social media post from Iceland Cricket features the caption "On a rain day in Reyjavík, we give you our IPL 2025 frauds and scammers team."
Pant, named captain and wicketkeeper, and Iyer headlined a roster blending struggling Indian stars and overseas players, with Mukesh Kumar as the 'No' impact substitute.
The team’s composition underscored a disappointing campaign for marquee names. Pant, leading Delhi Capitals, managed just 128 runs in 11 matches, while Iyer scored 142 runs for Kolkata Knight Riders, both teams languishing mid-table with five wins in 11 games.
Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan showed promise with his maiden century of the season in the first match. However, since then, the lad has been on a rough patch scoring under single digits in his last 9 outings.
The Frauds & Scammers Team
In the Playing XI, Chennai’s Rahul Tripathi and Rachin Ravindra were named openers, followed by Ishan Kishan and Pant. The middle order featured Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, Liam Livingstone, and Deepak Hooda, with R Ashwin, Matheesha Pathirana, and Mohammed Shami completing the bowling attack.
With the post now viral, Indian fans took matters into their own hands to retort the sarcastic post. One user wrote, "An official board calling international cricketers frauds ??? A new downfall for Iceland cricket ...you'll be getting the wrath of Indian fans now. Good luck."
Nevertheless, IPL 2025 have crossed its mid-season mark and is slowly advancing towards the playoffs. With RCB, PBKS, MI and GT being strong contenders for the trophy, the 5th, 6th and 7th-ranked teams are also fighting hard to gain a spot in the Top 4.
