In a significant development, there are reports that the ICC has warned PCB against making anti-India statements in regards to Champions Trophy 2025. Further, the apex cricket council are also convincing PCB to agree to a hybrid model.
Earlier this week, there were reports that the BCCI has officially conveyed to the PCB that the Indian team would not be travelling to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. It has caused a stir as PCB is firm on holding the tournament in Pakistan and even announced the same to the public.
ICC Tells PCB To Stop With Anti-India Remarks
Amid the cold war between the two boards, the ICC is reportedly urging the PCB to agree to a hybrid model through back-door channels. Further, they have also stopped the PCB from making anti-India remarks that would further fuel the tension between the two boards.
India want their games to be held in UAE or another venue but would not send their team to Pakistan because of security reasons. While, there is pressure to bow down to ICC, the PCB, as of now, are firm on their stance to hold the prestigious fifty-over event in Pakistan.
ICC To Release Schedule By End Of The Week
Since both boards are not able to come to a conclusion, it has led to a delay in the release of the official schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025. However, the reports have indicated that the ICC will release the schedule by the end of the week.
Currently, the preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025 are in full swing in Pakistan as the venues are undergoing renovation. If the tournament moves into a hybrid model similar to Asia Cup 2023, the PCB would incur a heavy monetary loss.
