In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the team of the Champions Trophy 2025. The apex body unveiled the team after India's emphatic victory over New Zealand in the final.
No Rohit Sharma In ICC's Team Of Tournament
Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who led the team from the front with a glorious half-century, didn't find place in ICC's playing XI. While Rachin Ravindra, the tournament's leading run-getter, has been picked as the opener with Ibrahim Zadran, legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli has been slotted at number three.
Shreyas Iyer, who struck the most runs for India in the tournament, has been chosen as the number four batter in the team. He is being followed by keeper-batter KL Rahul and New Zealand's dynamic all-rounder Glenn Phillips.
Omarzai Pips Pandya; Shami, Chakravarthy Included
Azmatullah Omarzai, who grabbed the limelight with some spectacular performances, made it into the team as the fast bowling allrounder ahead of Hardik Pandya. Mitchell Santner was named the captain for performing remarkably and leading the BlackCaps to the final.
Meanwhile, India's two most successful bowlers, Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy, have been picked as frontline weapons, with Matt Henry filling up the the remaining slot.
