'I think they need to play more games'- Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo calls for more FC games

Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo has reckoned that playing more and more first-class cricket is the only way the Tigers can improve in the longest format.

Their historic Test win in New Zealand aside, Bangladesh has recently been dreadful in Test cricket.

Speaking to the media following Bangladesh's 3-0 ODI series win over the West Indies, Domingo admitted that lack of constant exposure to red-ball cricket for his players has proved to be detrimental to their cause.

Domingo speaks on the lack of first-class cricket in Bangladesh

"The big concern is, of course, the number of four-day games the guys play. I think there are four-five (first-class) games a year. So Bijoy (Anamul) joined us in the Test team but hasn't played a red-ball game for over a year. That's difficult to do," quoted Domingo.

The head coach wants more domestic First-Class games

"Maybe not the quality but the number of games, and I think they need to play more games. Bangladesh' A' tours are so important, as well as domestic four-day matches. The numbers of games are important, and maybe they are not playing enough of it," he stated.

Under Domingo, Bangladesh have managed just three victories in 20 Tests while losing 15

However, the Asian side has had a gala time in ODI cricket. Their 3-0 whitewash of the Windies is another reminder of their growing stature in this format.
