I see India dominating world cricket in the foreseeable future: Ali Bacher

India have always been a force to reckon with in Test cricket, particularly in home conditions. However, under the leadership of former skipper Virat Kohli, Team India have gone on to scale new heights in overseas conditions.

In the last four years, they have claimed two-Test series victories against Australia in their backyard. Now, they are on the cusp of a historic Test series victory in England.

India’s success in red-ball cricket in overseas conditions boils down to their pace bowling exploits. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur have been turning heads with their inspiring bowling performances.

The bowling quartet helped the visitors claim a 2-1 series lead against England last year.

Former South African skipper and coach Dr Ali Bacher believes the Indian pace attack is here to stay. He expects the side to dominate world cricket for an extended period.

Moreover, Bacher believes that the only side which can match up to India’s pace bowling battery are the mighty Australians.

“This is the golden era for Indian cricket. With the kind of pace bowling riches they have, I see India dominating world cricket in the foreseeable future for an extended period,”

“Your 1.5 billion population can be really happy about it. This is the reason you are on top in England in the Test series. Currently, only Australia, which has a similarly high-quality pace bowling attack, can match up to India,” Dr Ali Bacher said, speaking to Times of India.

The Indian pacers were all over England in the first innings of the fifth Test. All ten wickets were picked up by the pacers, with captain Jasprit Bumrah leading from the front.

He picked up three wickets, whereas Mohammed Siraj had four scalps to his name. Apart from the regular quartet, India have several reinforcements to call upon. Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Prasidh Krishna are some other pacers involved in the Test setup.
