As South Africa registered the win over England at Lord's, it called for their skipper Dean Elgar's appreciation for the support staff.

Nailing down both the innings, the Proteas remained ahead of England right from the start of the game. From planning to execution, Elgar's side fared well in every aspect.

Lauding the backroom boys, the 35-year-old credited them for providing the basis behind his captaincy decisions.

"The guys did a great job. Very grateful with a young side. I have got a great think-tank behind the scenes. Good coaches who give great advice. As things work out, with Kesh getting a few wickets. And bringing Anrich who bowls at the speed of light," Elgar said as quoted in the post-match presentation.

'He is a pretty feisty character' - Elgar describes Erwee

Further, the Welkom-born termed his opening partner, Sarel Erwee, as a "feisty" character. Erwee was the visitors' top-scorer in the first innings, scoring a 73-run knock.

"I am just looking to get better as captain. (On his partnership) Having Sarel around helps. He's an experienced cricketer, and a great team-mate. He is a pretty feisty character. We'll enjoy tonight, it is Friday after all. We won't rush it, because we need to let the young guys take in the moment."

After losing the first match by an innings and 12 runs, England will clash against South Africa for the second Test, starting from August 25 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
