New Zealand Cricket (NZC) introduced their new jersey for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 on April 29. As per the reveal, the new kit design is quite reminiscent to that of New Zealand’s jersey from the 1999 World Cup in England.

Making way from their traditional black, the New Zealand cricket players will now be donning the teal color.

As one can expect, not everyone is on board with New Zealand’s jersey revamp as a legion of fans have expressed their displeasure on social media.

Netizens react as NZC replace black with teal

The New Zealand men’s cricket team, fondly known as the ‘Black Caps’, will now be wearing teal-colored jerseys instead of their traditional black in this year’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States.

On April 29, the NZC unveiled the design of their new jersey and also announced a 15-player squad for the tournament.

As expected, fans were quick to express their displeasure over New Zealand’s new jersey revamp, with several of them claiming that the color black is indeed the kit identity of the ‘Black Caps’. Moreover, numerous others also described the new jersey design as a ‘disrespect’ to the country’s original cricketing colors.
