The T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to start on 2nd of June and with 1st May being the cut-off date for announcing the squad, the debate around the selection of squads for T20 World Cup is getting intense with each passing day.

South Africa, the perennial dark horses of world cricket are also gearing up for the marquee event, and with truckloads of talent at their disposal, it would be interesting to see their final 15 for the all-important 9th edition of T20 World Cup.

The Proteas will be led by Aiden Markram, and he will play a big role in the middle order with his ability to mould his batting according to the situation of the game. Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks and Matthew Breetzke will be the three designated openers with Temba Bavuma all likely to miss out after leading the Proteas in the 2022 edition.

Hendricks scored runs consistently in the recently held CSA T20 Challenge while Ryan Rickelton has also scored runs, but with Breetzke doing well in South Africa's last T20I series against India, he is likely to get a nod. The middle order comprises of some destructive batters like Heinrich Klaasen, Miller, Stubbs while Rassie van der Dussen provides the stability at number 3.

Marco Jansen will take the all-rounder spot while the pace battery comprises of quality players like Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Gerald Coetzee and Lungi Ngidi. However, there are options of Nandre Burger and Lizaad Williams as well, and there is a chance that selectors might go with Burger in place of Nortje.

The two spinners will be Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi, and if selectors opt for the third spinner, Bjorn Fortuin will make the cut.
