On Thursday, June 12, there were reports that New Zealand will tour India for a multi-format white-ball series in January 2026. According to a report from the Times Of India, The Kiwis will lock horns against the Men in Blue for three ODIs and five T20Is, as the upcoming tour will act as a practice ground for the T20 World Cup scheduled in India next year.
The key decisions on further details of the tour will be finalised during BCCI's meeting on Saturday evening. Amid the wait, a report from Cricbuzz has shed light on the potential venues for the much-awaited series.
8 Cities Shortlisted For India-New Zealand Series
Jaipur, Mohali, Indore, Rajkot, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Trivandrum and Nagpur are in the shortlist for the eight white-ball matches between India and New Zealand.
The report indicates that the BCCI is looking to award games to stadiums that haven't hosted big series' in a long time and have ignored the likes of Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Gujarat in the list.
The Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur last hosted an international match in 2021. Interestingly, it was between India and New Zealand. Talking about Mohali, the PCA stadium is likely to get a game, and the last time India played here was against Afghanistan.
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Too Shortlisted
A few days ago, the BCCI made a few changes to their scheduling, where the venues were switched between Delhi and Kolkata. Meanwhile, the fans were unhappy with the BCCI for not allocating any big match to Hyderabad.
Now, the report suggests that the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium is all set to host the India-New Zealand white-ball match, which will be the first international game at this venue since India-Bangladesh T20I in October 2024.
