Team India defeated USA in match number 25 of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup back on June 12 by seven wickets and with 10 balls to spare. Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube punched out exquisite match-winning knocks in the run-chase after Arshdeep Singh’s sublime new-ball gambit.

As it turned out, the two Indian middle-order batters overcame a major scare early in the chase following the early dismissals of senior members and openers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Both Kohli and Sharma lost their guard within the first three overs of the Indian innings, courtesy of USA’s new-ball speedster and former Mumbai cricketer Saurabh Netravalkar.

During a recent exclusive chat with OneCricket, Netravalkar opened up about his mindset of bowling at the two famed Indian openers when he was asked to reveal his masterplan behind the key wickets.

During an exclusive interview, Saurabh Netravalkar revealed that he stuck to the basics and targeted the top of off-stump of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the early overs.

“I didn’t think about wickets honestly. Our total was low, and the pitch was offering swing with the new ball. It was important to keep it simple and bowl at top of off stump. That was the plan, and I am happy that I was able to pick up their wickets and do well for the team," the cricketer said.

The USA speedster further claimed that he considers Mumbai-based legend Rohit Sharma as his senior and the cricketer praised his camaraderie with Indian middle-order batter and former domestic teammate Suryakumar Yadav.

Saurabh Netravalkar will now helm USA’s attack in the Super Eight round of the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies.
