The USA’s Under-19 team has officially secured a place in the 2026 U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup. They are the final team to qualify, becoming the 16th side confirmed for the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.
USA U19 Cricket Team Books Spot In 2026 World Cup
The American team, led by captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Arjun Mahesh, dominated the Americas Qualifier held in Rydal, Georgia. They sealed qualification with one match still left to play, finishing unbeaten in the competition.
The USA started strongly with a 65-run win over Canada before going on to comfortably defeat Bermuda and Argentina. In the return fixtures, they beat Bermuda again and then bowled out Argentina for 34 runs, cruising to a nine-wicket win that confirmed their qualification.
Several players delivered standout performances throughout the qualifiers. Top-order batter Amrinder Singh Gill was excellent with the bat, scoring 199 runs in just three innings. On the bowling side, spinners Ansh Rai and Sahir Bhatia each picked up seven wickets, providing crucial breakthroughs to keep opponents under pressure.
Who Is Heading To 2026 World Cup
The 2026 U19 World Cup will feature 16 teams in total. Ten teams, including defending champions Australia and heavyweights like India, England, and Pakistan, qualified automatically along with hosts Zimbabwe. They will be joined by five regional qualifiers: the USA, Tanzania, Afghanistan, Japan, and Scotland.
In the tournament, the teams will be split into four groups of four. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six stage, carrying forward points earned against other qualifying teams.
Each side will then play two additional cross-group matches. From there, the top two teams in each Super Six group will move on to the semi-finals, with the winners battling it out in the final to be crowned champions.
