'They Cannot Play Him': Former Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif 'Mocks' Rohit & Virat

In what was expected to be another thrilling encounter between cricketing giants India and Pakistan at  Asia Cup 2023, rain played spoilsport, resulting in a washout. But the drama didn't end on the field.

Shehbaz Sharif throws shade at Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's tweet on Shaheen Shah Afridi's stellar performance became a hot topic of discussion among fans worldwide.

Despite the weather's interference, Afridi left a lasting impact with his exceptional spell, notably dismissing both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. This remarkable achievement made Afridi the first bowler to get both Rohit and Kohli out in the same ODI.

Reacting to Afridi's heroics, Sharif, in a cryptic jibe, took to Twitter, stating, "THEY CANNOT PLAY HIM." The implication, clearly a veiled critique of Rohit and Kohli's abilities against Afridi, set the internet ablaze.

The comment instantly went viral, dividing netizens across the globe. The phrase "They cannot play him" rapidly trended, with ex-Pakistani cricketer Wahab Riaz also tweeting the same.

Meanwhile, the on-field action, though interrupted was just as intense. India's innings was stabilized by a 138-run partnership between Ishan Kishan (82 off 81 balls) and Hardik Pandya (87 off 90 balls) after an initial collapse, taking India to a total of 266 in 48.5 overs.

In response, Pakistan’s chase did not get going courtesy of persistent rains before the game was eventually called off.

The washed-out game added one point to India's tally, positioning them for the Super Four provided they beat Nepal in their next match. Meanwhile, Pakistan secured their spot in the Super Four with 3 points from their two Group A matches.
