Australia started their new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle with a big win against the West Indies on June 27 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The star of the match was Australian batter Travis Head, who put on an outstanding show with the bat and made history along the way.

Notably, Travis Head became the first player in the history of the World Test Championship to win 10 Man of the Match awards. This amazing feat was achieved in just 50 Test matches, showing how important Head has been for Australia in the competition.

In the match against the West Indies, he scored two half-centuries, one in each innings, helping Australia secure a big 159-run victory.

It is worth mentioning that Head is also one of Australia's top scorers in the WTC, with 3,199 runs so far. He has hit eight centuries (100 or more runs) and fifteen fifties in the competition. Besides that, he joined an elite group of batters who have hit over 400 fours in the WTC.

Only Joe Root, Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith have more fours than him, and Head reached 401 fours in just 83 innings.

Talking about the match itself, Australia chose to bat first but were bowled out for 180 runs. Head top-scored with 59 runs, which helped Australia stay competitive. The West Indies struggled too, scoring 190 runs in their first innings. In the second innings, Australia performed better and scored 310 runs, thanks again to Head’s 61 runs that came at a crucial time when the team was in trouble.

Australia’s bowlers then did a fantastic job, bowling out the West Indies for just 141 runs and sealing a big win in just one session on Day 3. Josh Hazlewood was the standout bowler with 5 wickets for 43 runs.
