He has it in him to not only lead CSK but also India one day - Rayudu on his skipper

Chennai Super Kings middle-order batter Ambati Rayudu has backed his franchise’s skipper Ravindra Jadeja to mature into an outstanding leader despite a poor start to his captaincy stint.

Jadeja, who was appointed the skipper of the defending champions following MS Dhoni’s resignation, has managed just two victories in seven games so far.

However, there has been plenty of evidence of Dhoni still calling the shots on the field.

Nevertheless, the middle-order batter believes that while it’s impossible to fill Dhoni’s shoes, the maestro all-rounder will evolve into a great leader under the ‘guidance of Mahi’. He has also tipped the Saurashtra player to lead the national team in the future.

“Filling in MS Dhoni’s shoes, it’s never going to happen. But Jaddu definitely has it in him and under the guidance of Mahi bhai and till the time he’s around on the ground with him it will be very easy for him. Jadeja will become better. He has it in him to not only lead CSK but also India one day,” said Rayudu on CSK’s YouTube channel.

The Super Kings are languishing at the second-last spot in the points table, with only two wins under their belt.

However, Rayudu believes that the team currently is undergoing a transition phase, and once the players get comfortable in their roles, the four-time champions will once again emerge as a force to reckon with under an inspirational leader like Jadeja.

“There is the shift, and it has to come. A lot of youngsters will continue to feature in CSK as the years go by. Having a young captain like Jadeja who has done it and seen it all, it will be great for them to be under him and have his confidence. They have the backing of the captain, and I think he is going in the right direction, and even the team is. CSK will be very, very successful under him,” the Hyderabad batter said.

CSK are currently locking horns with the Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, where the latter are batting at 123/1 after 15 overs at the time of writing.
