IPL 2022 | Moeen Ali likely to miss CSK-PBKS fixture due to ankle injury

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Moeen Ali has reportedly sustained an ankle injury, and his participation in today's Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture seems doubtful.

According to an ESPNcricinfo report, Moeen hurt his ankle in a training session and will miss out on a few of the upcoming CSK matches. The Chennai-based team have their game scheduled on April 25 against Punjab Kings.

The Englishman hurt his ankle during Saturday's training session. CSK are still awaiting the scan results, which will decide the further course of action.

Notably, Moeen was dropped from the playing XI in the last game against Mumbai Indians, and the franchise chose to fill in the foreigner's slot by drafting in Mitchell Santner in his place.

The injury-ridden CSK have already dealt with several pullouts, with their premium players Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne suffering from injuries.

Although Moeen was retained by the Ravindra Jadeja-led side ahead of the IPL 2022 auction, he has massively underperformed and has scored 87 runs at an unimpressive average and strike rate of 17.40 and 124.29 so far in the season.

Meanwhile, CSK, today, are likely to continue with the same foreign players' combination as the last match, with the debate of playing Moeen or not ending after the development.
