IPL 2022 | Jos Buttler credits Mushtaq Ahmed's advice for stellar performance

With his scintillating run of form, Jos Buttler is notching up the new highs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The England wicketkeeper-batter has amassed 491 runs in seven matches, at an average of 81.83.

Buttler has marched his way to the top of the run-scoring charts, courtesy of his three tons in the ongoing season for Rajasthan Royals, coming against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals respectively.

The English star has credited his recent T20 success to Mushtaq Ahmed, who advised Buttler to focus on hitting more towards the off-side.

In a rapid-fire, the 31-year-old opened up on his conversation with the former Pakistan leg-spinner and how his game has enhanced since that chat.

"Mushtaq Ahmed always told me to hit on the off-side first and then come around to the leg-side. So if you are looking only on the leg-side, you will never hit the ball on the off-side," Buttler said in a video posted on Rajasthan Royals' YouTube channel.

Not long ago, the Englishman was known for throwing his wicket away. However, he has made up for the lost opportunities of scoring hundreds and has added five three-figure scores to his T20 resume since last year.

Buttler will be eyeing to break Virat Kohli's record of most runs (973) in an IPL season, but he still needs to cross an ocean before reaching the monumental milestone.

Rajasthan Royals will battle out against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 26 at MCA Stadium, Pune.
